Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Fishing with Billy! I am a high school student and a fishing fanatic. This blog was made as part of a project in my Web Design class. I will be posting about fishing frequently throughout the next month or so. Enjoy!

Fishing Tackle

There are so many rods, reels, lures, jigs, hooks and other tackle available, but how do you know which ones to choose? I can help you out with that if you are trying to get started with fishing or need to restock some of your gear.

Rods - I have two rods right now, and I think they are excellent for freshwater fishing and some light tackle saltwater fishing. I use my Ugly Stik the most because I have had it for longer and am more accustomed to using it. This rod is great for pretty much any freshwater fishing, and has an unreal rod bend. My newer one that I just got this year is a St. Croix Triumph. This is another phenomenal rod for freshwater but can also go saltwater for good sized fish such as snook and redifsh. I highly reccomend both of these rods.

Reels - Shimano is a major company in the fishing world that sells a variety of great reels. I have two of Shimano reels, one for each of my rods. One is an older version that works great and the other is the Spheros. I got this one because it works great for both freswhwater and saltwater fishing. I reccomend any Shimano reel and they have a great variety for freshwater and saltwater and with a great price range too.

Lures and Jigs - There are so many different types of lures and jigs and so many different fish that you may be going after. Therefore, I can only give you a small bit of advice for lures and jigs because my experiences are limited to mostly freshwater fishing, but also a little bit of saltwater. My favorites for different types of fish are listed below.

Largemouth Bass: Lizards, Slug-O's, crankbaits.
Pickerel: Rooster tails, spoons, live minnows.
Bluegill: Worms, bread, hot dogs, any other food.
Trout: Rooster tails, spoons.
