Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Fishing with Billy! I am a high school student and a fishing fanatic. This blog was made as part of a project in my Web Design class. I will be posting about fishing frequently throughout the next month or so. Enjoy!

Where to Fish

There are many different places to fish and many different species of fish that live in these bodies of water. This page will explain where these different types of fish are and where to fish for them at different times in the day.

Largemouth bass - These fish normally live in ponds and lakes, especially ones with a lot of cover. They are typically found by the shore because that is where they are able to find the greatest protection from the sun and other predators. When fishing for largemouth bass, stay near the shore and fish around any structures or fallen trees that may provide protection or cover for the fish. Regions that have the best largemouth bass fishing include the Northeast, South, Southeast, and the West. the best states for Largemouth bass fishing are Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Georgia. Best fishing for largemouth bass is in the early morning or dusk. However, you can also go night fishing for bass. This is only possible after the water remains at around 70 degrees at night.

Pickerel - Shallow ponds and small lakes are the bodies of water that these fish usually inhabit. Because these fish are considered more aggressive and a more intense predator, they typically roam out in the open of a pond, but are also found in and around the shore. They can also be fished for through the ice during the winter. The best pickerel fishing is up North because of their ability to withstand the colder temperatures of water. Pickerel are very tough fish. Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Canada are all great places to go fishing for pickerel. Best fishing times for pickerel are really any time of the day, but better toward the afternoon and dusk.

Trout - Rivers and streams that are deep enough (a few feet) is the normal habitat for most types of trout. They can be found all around in these small rivers. Although they may seem easy to catch because you know where they are, they are not that easy. The best bet for catching one of these evasive fish is with a fly fishing rod because they always go after bugs and flies sitting on top of the water. Spinning rods with the right bait, however, can also work. The northern regions of North America are where trout are normally found. They prefer colder water and can be found in many rivers in the United States and Canada. Trout are best fished for in the early morning and at dusk.
